Felix Atlas, Quicksand MercenaryDETAILSGender: Male
Race: Human
Age: Unknown, appears 20-ish
Occupation: Freelance Mage
Magic: Sand Dragon Slayer Magic
Guild: N/A, will eventually join Knightfall
Guild Mark Location: TBC
Appearance:
Felix stands at 6ft, roughly 182 or so centimeters, he has dark tanned skin, brilliant orange eyes, an impressively nicely shaped nose and spinky golden hair. What is perhaps most surprising about his general appearance is the fact that he is actually quite good looking under all that smoulder and grumpy wanderer kind of deal he has going on. He wears mage garb that looks similar to
this, except without a cape, and is black with a gold trim instead of a silver trim, he also wears special enchanted boots and a weighted training cloak over that, which is black with a red front cuff. He also carries a special staff with him.

HISTORYAn unknown amount years before age X777, a young lad was born in a community that lived in the desert. He would be known in time as Felix Atlas. The boy lived a relatively normal life-- as normal as a life can get when magic is commonplace anyway. Interestingly enough, he learned very little magic; he saw no need to do so. What he did learn was simply the basics that little ones learned-- the stuff that his community needed to live; being in tune with the earth itself, sensing minerals and changes in nature.
In Age X770, everything was turned upside down. You see, the desert that the community lived in was rumored to house a powerful dragon that stalked the rolling dunes, this land was its kingdom, and while most outsiders wouldn’t believe such a notion, the elders in the village were adamant in their claims…
They were correct, of course, but… Wouldn’t likely live to tell the tale for absolute certain.
This alleged ‘Dragon Of The Desert’ had been set upon by a ridiculously ferocious invader… Another dragon! The battle caused the skies above to shriek, and the ground to groan and crack under the magical pressure of the two titanic, powerful beasts! The two ended up causing many desert structures and landmarks to be completely eliminated, the destruction increasing in severity the closer to the epicenter of their clash…
Felix’s town was simply on the edge, and even then it was torn apart, flattened. Not very many would live… Felix himself almost didn’t survive, and was even thought dead for the most part.
The battle between the two dragons ended with the invader fleeing, having made the mistake of attacking a dragon quite literally
in their element. The ‘Dragon Of The Desert’ soon noticed a settlement that had been wiped off the map-- Felix’s town. Stricken by guilt that they couldn’t handle the problem better and prevent this; the dragon wished to find a way to repay the lost lives for their failures… The dragon would soon find Felix, who was but a young toddler that hadn’t been all too severely injured.
Taking it upon themselves to adopt the boy as recompense, the dragon taught Felix the ways of the world, and putting his latent magical potential to some use by teaching them a form of Lost Magic; that of the Sand Dragon Slayer. In age X777, the dragon disappeared having given Felix but a few parting words of good faith. “See that the world is balanced and redeemed for its shortcomings, young one. I believe in you.”
Eventually Felix would grow up to be quite the capable mage; he took on freelance jobs. Rather than properly joining a guild, he would simply momentarily affiliate with certain individuals within them, his reasons for this were unknown, but results don’t lie. He would occasionally work with members of Chevalier’s Knightfall Mage Guild, meeting several members in passing, as well as working with them on various miscellaneous missions, but he wouldn’t stick around for too long, generally leaving the celebrations to them as he carried on his way despite any invitations to stick around.
All in all, the man is but a mystery...
PERSONALITYWhat his consistently neutral or grumpy looking facial expression conceals is a man that is actually quite witty and comedic. However, this witty and comedic side hardly sees light, as Felix is rather quiet, speaking only when spoken to or when he feels it relevant to be heard.
Other than that, he seems socially detached... Perhaps it is because he doesn't exactly place the highest value in keeping the peace or preserving life. He is a mercenary, not a hero after all.
Speaking of, as an independent
mercenary mage that typically deals with striking down truly careless, selfish, irredeemably ghastly people, he has developed an odd code of conduct... The first value of which is;
"If someone can be redeemed and repent for their sins, make sure they do so-- and of their own volition, if at all possible."
While not prone to violent outbursts like most Dragon Slayers, in a combat situation he is quite honestly just as brutal if not more so than a typical Dragon Slayer is... However, that doesn't mean he is as reckless and destructive-- no, far from it, he is far more precise and makes his moves with a direct and absolute determination.
He also has some oddly dragon-like traits that he effectively learned from his foster parent; such as never baring ones teeth for any reason unless you mean to be imposing or threatening, along with trilling/growling and other miscellaneous quirks.
STRENGTHS // QUIRKS // WEAKNESSES✔ Speed - Compared to Dragon Slayers overall, Felix has the leg up in terms of speed, be it mental or physical. A high point of both his magic and physical training.
✔ Hard To Shake - When Felix has his target set, whatever it may be, it is going to have a ridiculously hard time getting away from him... After all, sand gets everywhere and is hard to get rid of, isn't it~?
~ Water/Water Magics - Somewhere between a weakness and a strength is Felix's reaction to water and water based magics. He is completely capable of swimming, but being wet for long periods makes him uncomfortable and extra grouchy. It also bugs his own magic out somewhat, making it
cast slower... However, this reaction causes his magic to
hit harder as a counterbalance.
~ Earth Consumption - Felix can eat regular/natural earth materials or earth based magics instead of natural sand or sand based magics, though it only provides sustenance rather than a power boost.
✘ Strength Imbalance - Compared to Dragon Slayers overall, Felix isn't as potent in physical strength, and won't do as much damage in hand to hand or weapon based combat as most Slayers typically do.
✘ Vehicle Based Motion Sickness - A typical Dragon Slayer quirk that occurs in mostly in the First Generation. Open air and magical vehicles such as Flying Carpets are exempt from this in Felix's case, as is the use of Aera through an Exceed's assistance.
ITEMS & GEAR• ???'s Staff - A peculiar mage's staff of mysterious origin. It is tough, and very well made. It has an interesting quirk; that being Felix, and Felix
ALONE can use it with 100% efficiency (or more, with effort). Essentially, it operates on something similar to the 'Mjolnir Principle' where those seen as worthy can potentially use it to some degree, but
NEVER as well as Felix can. It seems as though Dragon Slayers are able to use it at 60% efficiency normally, and at 75% efficiency with effort. Other strong individuals can use it at 35% efficiency normally, and at 45% efficiency with effort. Beyond those paramaters, the staff will absolutely
REFUSE to budge.
• Weighted Cloak - Quite self explanatory, it is a cape enchanted with increased weight, and is in general used for training (and being stylish~)
• Pegasus Boots - A pair of enchanted boots that increase the wearer's speed in a similar way to the High Speed Caster Magic, but since it is simply an enchantment, it doesn't run off the wearer's magical energy, and therefore isn't as fast as High Speed's maximum capabilities.
