Korsy nodded to Ace when he made it clear she was not to be turned ash. Then he called for Allianna to join them. He could only assume that she could do something to help their deceased master, but first she had to remove the damage caused by the battle. She was battered and had taken a lot of punishment compared to the rest of them. Then she took a hold of the guild mistress and started to remake the stone statue into the image that they remembered and how she should be remembered. She was coming home with them, there she could watch over them and see them develop 'till the end of time.
"Amen to that, both of you," he said with his right hand upon his heart and lowered head. Then he walked over and knelt by the diamond figure's side, "forever more she'll watch over us, our founder... our patron."

Suddenly a huge flash of light enveloped them and then, just like that, the fighting stopped. The winged men didn't continue and instead rose to the sky while thanking them for releasing them from the grip of Elora's staff.
Even so it wasn't all happiness and sunshine, although the bright sunlight seemed to think otherwise, not only had one of the angles died but they still had to figure what to do with the whole guild master ordeal. It seemed that Ace had been devastated by the fate of their mistress and who could blame him, nobody deserved to die like that... except for Elora as it would be a delightful case of irony.
"I agree, she deserved better for everything she has done in life," he said while walking over the vampire, "if anything we could bring her back home and give her a proper farewell and funeral. Grind the clay to ash and let the wind take it. Regardless, we're not leaving her here."

Once again he smiled as he struck his target and drew blood, served him right for being such an annoyance. Now it was time to finish it though, but it seemed that the wingman had one more gambit up his sleeve. As he started to move on the downed wingman he was struck by the light spear which struck his shoulder and staggered him briefly.
"I'll hand it to you... you're persistent, i respect that," he told the winged man and returned his knife to its place in his belt, "so let's make it quick, Shadow Dragon's Roar!" As he spoke the last part he quickly pulled down the scarf that covered his mouth and unleashed a torrent of darkness meant to finish it and grant the wingman a quick end after all this.

So they could use magic? This just got a lot more serious, not to mention interesting. Once their barrages had managed to cancelled each other out he went in for it. Knowing now that he was against a light mage he was less inclined to use shadow magic in a direct confrontation. Coming at them from another angle however, that was a different story. That being said, he was starting to be worn down and he needed to feed soon as the small amount he had consumed before was starting to lose its effect. So he went for something else.
He quickly position himself above his enemy and then came down with his knife brandished. Unlike when he attacked his mistress he had gravity to further accelerate his descend and he came speeding towards the wingman.
"Shadow Dragon's Slash!" he yelled as his left hand was engulfed in darkness as he was about to impact. His plan was to first his the wingman before digging in with his knife and trying to drag him down to earth as well.

His attack hit and it hit hard as Kornelius was released and fell back down to the others. He quickly recovered from the fall and without the motion sickness he was back in action. He was about to yell that Lance needed to get himself together and keep his head in the game, otherwise he would be the next to die, but Ace handled it in a much more inspiring manner.
It was also obvious that Hiver had been majorly pissed off by one of the wingmen and he also fell into that category.
"Alright, let's put an end to this, Shadow Drive!" Once again he was enveloped in his element and his eyes completely covered, rendering the last part that showed who he was beneath the armor obscured, in their place was only his blank iris.
"Vengeance will be mine!" he threatened as he vanished into darkness, only to reappear behind the stunned servant, leaping from his its shadow, "Shadow Construct Fan of Knives!"
He twisted himself to face the winged man and as he did he made a throwing motion with both his hands, sending a barrage of small shadow throwing knives flying towards his target, intending to tear him apart and make sure he was well and truly dead.

He missed and now he could feel his will weaken again as the motion sickness returned full force.
But he had been close and as a consolation his captor missed by a mile, as if he hadn't even aimed for him. He couldn't hold back this time though and as the sickness reached critical mass he started to vomit a liquid that was black as night. To make it worse he lost focus and his shadow daggers disintegrated. He was however some invigorated by seeing two of his mates break free and he felt a morbid sense of satisfaction as he burned the angle to dust. This in turn gave him enough focus to quickly suppress the sickness and launch an elbow inwards to try and hit the winged man's stomach.

The attack from the servant snapped Kornelius back to his senses as the overwhelming pain of the attacked overcame his sickness. It severed his artery however, and he quickly pulled down his mouth cover as he started to cough up a lot of blood as well as the blood flowing from the wound. Thankfully it wasn't his aorta otherwise he would probably be dead. But now he had to act before the motion sickness came back. That was when Ace rushed time forward and night fell, something he certainly was going to exploit before it was too late.
"Shadow weave bandages." He placed his hands together and used the shadow within each to quickly weave a makeshift bandage which he then placed on the wound to contain the bleeding. It wasn't the best way to heal the injury, but he could stop himself from bleeding to death. Then he turned his attention to the man carrying him. The motion sickness was starting to come back, he had to move fast now. Sadly he could only consume the shadow produced by his captor's arms, the part that was easy to reach. It wasn't much, but more than enough to give him the boost he needed.
"Shadow Construct, daggers!" he yelled and made a gesture as if he was drawing a weapon with each hand as a dagger of pure darkness formed in each. He would have loved to punch his captor, but in his position where the wingman was behind him, he couldn't use many of his attacks and setting up for a Waxwing Flash would render him motion sick before he could complete it. So with that in mind, he gave a qualified guess as to where the wingman's body and he was based on the stab wound and quickly thrusted the daggers backwards to try and impale his captor and get free or make him land.

Korsy couldn't help but smile as his blade dug into Elora and her blood started to flow and stain her, the blade and the ground. He didn't strike anything critical, but based on her reaction he did make it hurt. He was quick to retract the blade and ready for another strike when Elora's servant grabbed him and took off, bringing him up and into a rouch flight. It didn't take long for him to overcome with motion sickness either. He felt his arms and legs grow weak like jelly and despite his attempt to keep his grib on his precious weapon he let go and saw it drop to the ground. He was powerless, in this state, he tried to fight back, but his basic attacks lacked strengths behind them.

To be fair, seeing the place come down yet leaving Elora untouched was kinda hilarious, but now they were bathed in sunlight and he whatever shadows around the place had been all but removed... brilliant. Hiver was also going for it, he was certainly one to behold as well, although it seemed that vengeance had managed to break his normally calm demeanor. His attack seemed to be somewhat ineffective though but it made her angry, which was always nice.
Then came the counterattack and it was first then that he noticed how Lance had collapsed, which distracted for just a fraction of a second too long and he was struck by the light arrows as Devine deflected them away from herself and Hiver. their impact points certainly burned but in his current state they thankfully bounced off him, then he turned his attention to Allianna.
"I'm alright, just a bit burned where they hit," he stated to assure her everything was fine for now, "now let's get going!"
Before he continued forward however, he turned to look at Lance, "Come on Lance, get on your feet, we need you as a hot shot, not a fire hazard!"
With that out of the way he became completely dark and melted into the ground as a black spot which then sped off up towards the angelic creature while making an effort to get behind her. He had to be fast, while he didn't have the same "allergic" reaction to the sun like Ace, he was still a creature that preferred the night and the harsh sunlight was really making him uncomfortable. It wasn't going to stop him, despite how much he tried to remain professional he too had fallen to vengeance and was just a rage driven as the rest. If he had been a more suitable environment he would drawn upon it to make himself hit harder, but he couldn't against such a enemy his darkness was useless. So he had to use his mother's knife to deliver retribution. Once he felt confident he was behind her he bolted straight for her and suddenly leapt out of the ground and into the air. He was going to set to her to hell with a knife in her back, hopefully their mistress would exact her own revenge then. He held the knife above his head and extended his left hand to grab her by the shoulder if need be then he brought the knife with all the might he could muster in this farm.

It was a well known fact that Kornelius rarely harbored any kinds of close emotional ties to others within Knightfall, preferring to keep it to acquaintances at best. That didn't mean he didn't respect them however, he most certainly did and seeing what she was doing to these... well, constructs and their late mistress was setting his anger a blaze, shattering everything he had seen before and somehow making able to ignore the massive amount of sunlight that they were being bathed in now.
"Those who have died deserve to rest in peace," he declared and pointed his survival knife at Elora, "and regardless of who they are or were and whether you're acting on her instructions or not, she too deserves that. You'll pay for leaving her in such state of suffering!"
His biggest issue was that he was in a very bad position right now and cover was hard to come by here, so he had to rely on the others and his own speed to avoid damage.
"Shadow Drive!" he yelled as his body started to grow dark and he became cloaked in his element, "let's snuff her out!!"

"I'll be sure evaluate my assessment of when to involve myself when we get back home," Kornelius assured the vampire as the one that had apparently killed their guild mistress. She was strange if he was being completely honest, she didn't look like the kind of person that would kill another person but looks were never something to judge someone by. Given how he was in a better condition than the others he refused it and even if he was in a bad shape her pet was more than enough deterrence for him.

He did however feel a bit of pride flare up in his chest as he listened to Ace talk to Elora, or rather try to intimidate her it seemed. Even if he was questionable, he definitely had the ability to rile someone up. Coupled with the sorrow he had felt at her passing he could only agree that she would pay for this with her life... or they would be joining their mistress in death.
Knife in hand he readied himself to leap into cover and/or combat once the whole thing kicked off. The light was not something he enjoyed, but it did mean that every single object in the room had to cast a shadow... it would he had a bit to go on.
"I would advise caution around the statues," he muttered to the others, "i'm willing to bet she'll make them come alive or something along those lines."

The sudden increase in light wasn't something Kornelius enjoyed and he quickly covered his eyes while adjusting his hood to provide more cover against the sun. Apart from that the room was truly stunning to look at in contrast to where they had just been. Of course he was one of the least exhausted and it didn't go unnoticed given Ace's question... seemed he had some explaining to do now.
"Well yes, i have been observing you as you fought the viper," he confessed without a single trace of guilt, it was simple fact after all, "my plan was to observe the viper and return home with what i had learned. That plan was altered though when one of you decided to take revenge early and i won't blame you for it. I too feel a bit sad to see her pass.. and i fully admit i forgot to tell you about this little plan i had made. Nevertheless, i would have suspected you could take it on and i could remain concealed and continue with it all. Instead i ended up dropping my cover to try and assist, only to choose the worst possible moment. All in all, could have gone better."
He stopped and looked around the room, "not much cover for me to hide in, guess i'll join in a frontal assault then. Don't worry, i'll be sure to pull my weight."

If there was one thing Kornelius had learned from all this it was that the Viper wasn't a very good host. He had been confined to hide in the darkness of the cave for days on end after getting here. His original plan had been to figure out what had managed to kill their guild mistress and then, along with the others, try to formulate some sort of plan to avenge her death. If would seem however, that someone in the guild had gotten the idea of kicking the whole thing off earlier and now three of the dragon slayers were poisoned, the vampire had been eaten, they had been thrown into the water and only been saved by the frost dragon slayer's quick thinking. By now he had concluded that his plan had been rendered useless and instead he had to join the fight. Hopefully he could help to tip the tide in their favor.
He readied his knife, waited for the Viper to be distracted and then moved when the fire dragon slayer threw a fire ball at the sea monster... only to find that he had been frozen in place before he could even get the first strike off and he was now exposed. All in all, he could have done a lot better. Hopefully they could keep her occupied so his cover wouldn't be completely blown. Even then he doubted he could regain it again.

Character Biographies / Korsy - Shadow Dragon Slayer
« on: September 14, 2016, 05:39:32 am »
Full name: Kornelius Syndergaard

Nickname: Korsy

Age: Assumed to be in his 20’s

Race: Human

Occupation: Mage

Guild: Knightfall

Guild Mark Location: Center of the neck

Magic Type: Dragon Slayer Magic

Element: Shadow

Appearance: Kornelius is on the taller side of people and stands at roughly 1.85m. His frame is a slim one, trained to be both strong and agile without either affecting the other. His face seems to be in a small constant frown and given how he prefers to cover his face up it is about all there is to say about that. Most of his clothing serves to keep him protected from sunlight or keeping his identity hidden to outsiders.

Bio: Ever since he was born the outdoors played a role in Kornelius’s life. His family was one that never really settled down and instead took jobs as a mobile scouting post for hire by the local villages and cities and while they settled down when he was born it too was temporal as they went back on the move when he was but four years old.

They kept it easy and took their time to try and teach their son how to survive in the wild as well as how they made their way in life. However, even when you try to minimize dangers, they can still show their ugly face and the got sent on a rigged job. Before they knew it they were assaulted by demons and Kornelius was forced to hide, which he managed to do exceptionally well for his age. When the whole thing died down he found their camp ransacked and his parents corpses gone. Desperate and not sure of what to do he searched the camp as well and managed to unearth his mother’s survival knife. With that in and his little backpack in hand he started to wander aimlessly to find food or, more preferably, somewhere with other people. During this time he truly learned the meaning of fear and hunger, but also how to hide effectively from potential threats. Although he was only barely surviving on the few plants he had been told he could eat safely, he was still hanging on somehow.

Unbeknownst to Kornelius however, he had earned himself a stalker. A shadow dragon by the name of Tusmørke had seen the kid not long after he had left his camp and tracked him for a while. Originally he did it for entertainment, trying to guess how long the little one would last. In the end however, he ended up seeing how the kid handled things and figured he might actually be worth something. He waited for Kornelius to be near death and first then did he reveal himself to the young boy to offer him a way out, a way to survive. At this point Kornelius was too desperate to even question the dragon and agreed with no second thought.

Tusmørke took him under his wing and helped him recover to normal health, then he started teaching him how to use the talent he had observed. Trained to a condition that surpassed normal human and how to interact with them, as well as being taught Shadow Dragon Slayer Magic, Kornelius was turning into quite a potent apprentice for the dragon, they even started to form a bond more akin to family than the master and apprentice relationship they normally had. Fate was a cruel mistress however, and one day Kornelius returned to his master’s cave to find him gone. At first he didn’t think much of it as his master had the philosophy to never let your guard down, so he was on guard for several hours until he concluded his master wasn’t there. He ended up waiting for three days before concluding he was on his own again.

Downtrodden by the disappearance of the creature that saved him he started to wander yet again, but now he could handle himself and he soon found his way into more questionable work that suited his talents. This line of work caused him to hear about the guild Knightfall and it peaked his interests. He ended up joining as one of the more… secluded ones .WIlling to work with others but keeping the relationship on a professional level.

Personality: Kornelius mostly keeps a professional attitude towards things, preferring to stay out of many bonding exercises given his past. Despite this disposition he knows that allies is a must and will go out of his way to be a good partner on operations.
In combat he focuses on versatility and subtlety, having trained himself in forming shadows into various weapons and trained with them to a decent degree as well as various support skills, like using the shadows to quickly avoid others or reposition himself.
Furthermore, he relies on the idea that you can’t kill what you can’t hit and remain hidden and therefore he isn’t the one to take hits for his team, although he will try to shove them out of the way if possible.

Strengths:
  • High speed and agility in combat scenarios.
  • Like a shadow, he is silent and always by his allies’ side.
  • Capable of swapping between various melee and ranged weapons in a hurry.
Weaknesses:
  • Low resilience compared to other members of the guild.
  • Like a shadow, he is uncaring and won’t be likely take a hit for you, only force you out of the way.
  • Given most of his weapons are made from condensed shadow, most of them can be countered by various kinds of magic and light magic will render them useless, the only exception is his mother’s survival knife.
